Silver-enhanced lateral flow immunoassay for detection of microcystin-LR in drinking water

An immunochromatographic test system based on the indirect competitive format has been developed for rapid control of cyanotoxin microcystin-LR (MC-LR) in drinking water. To increase assay sensitivity, a hydroquinone-based reduction silver ions surface gold nanoparticles as part immune complexes formed membrane carried out. This stage allows enhancement colouration strip zones. The is characterised by an instrumental limit detection 0.05 ng/mL, cut-off 0.5 and working range detectable concentrations 0.08–0.42 ng/mL. duration was 17 min. applicability MC-LR water demonstrated. recoveries vary from 90% to 120%.
